The Paddock Restaurant Hyannis Ma
If you visit the website of The Paddock restaurant in Hyannis Massachusetts, you will see them refer to themselves as a “Cape Cod institution”. These are not just boastful words and this place has earned their title since 1970 when they first opened.

We arrived at The Paddock 10 minutes before it opened for the dinner crowd so we did not use the valet parking service which is not only available, but seems to be how every car is parked and retrieved from the lot.
Once inside we were immediately greeted by the owner/manager who’s photos were easy to spot in the lobby. We were treated with a great deal of respect and attention and were asked if we were attending the Melody Tent show that evening. The Melody Tent is located right next door and several of the wait staff also asked us if we would be attending the show. They obviously coordinate your meal in order to get you to the show on time.

The dining area was very attractive. It had a dark, rich ambience that reminded me of more opulent times of yesteryear. This is not an environment where corners are cut in order to save money. The photos and videos that are shown on their website are exactly what the interior looks like.
The wait staff was top notch and definitely a cut above what you find in many restaurants these days. This is a classy place and every moment that you spend here makes you feel as if you are a special customer. I watched the manager escort numerous patrons to their seats and he pulled the chairs out for both men and women alike as he seated them. It was an extremely personal touch that I appreciated. Many of the patrons were obviously regulars, as the staff and customers were on a first name basis. I felt as if I had been transported back in time to a setting where the world was smaller and more familiar than what we typically experience in our busy lives these days.

Our food was luscious, perfectly cooked and a delight to the eyes. I had boiled lobster done the lazy man’s way and it was nothing short of perfection. I have never had better. My dinner companion had the bay scallops, which I sampled and they were also good. It was a good meal, delivered to our lavish table by people with a very professional, yet personable attitude. We give the Paddock a thumbs up and will definitely go back. It is not a budget friendly place but you shouldn’t expect it here. This is a place to go when you want to be spoiled and pampered. This is also not a great place to take young children.
